What you’ll be doing in this role

The Food Service Department of the Sydney Adventist Hospital is seeking two enthusiastic and compassionate Café Assistants (internally known as Baristas). Our on-site café (SanCafe) serves as a vital space for staff, patients, and visitors to enjoy nutritious meals and beverages in a welcoming atmosphere.

Our Food Services department runs each day of the year, all with varied function, responsibility and shifts times. Shifts start at 6.45am and finish by 7pm and are 4-8 hours in duration. To work best with our team, we require availability to work across all days of the week, covering three shifts on most weeks, rather than having fixed days and times.

In this role you’ll work closely with your colleagues at the SanCafe to provide quality coffee and customer service to patients, the community and hospital staff. You will be responsible for food handling, preparation, and service, always ensuring strict adherence to hygiene and Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards.

Who we are looking for

  • You’ll have demonstrated experience using a commercial espresso coffee machine, with ability to make a variety of coffees for our customers in a commercial, café, restaurant or other related hospitality environment.
  • You’ll have previous experience using a Point of Sale / cash register.
  • You’ll have outstanding people skills with the ability to build rapport with customers and colleagues.
  • You’ll be dedicated to providing outstanding customer service and enjoy going above & beyond for our customers.
  • You’ll be well organised with the ability to prioritise workload to meet tight time schedules when required.
  • You’ll have excellent awareness of food safety, hygiene and manual handing standards.
  • You’ll have full Australian working rights.
