About the role

Reporting to the Chief Operations and Nursing Executive, you will provide senior leadership across key critical care services, with accountability for operational performance, financial outcomes and service development.

This role plays a critical part in shaping the future of critical care by driving service excellence, sustainable growth and continuous improvement. Working closely with clinical leaders, executives and business partners, you will translate strategy into practical outcomes that enhance patient care, workforce sustainability and organisational performance.

The role balances strategic contribution with hands-on operational leadership, requiring strong judgement, commercial insight and the ability to lead in complex healthcare environments.

 

Who we are looking for

You are an experienced healthcare leader with a strong critical care background and a demonstrated ability to lead complex services at a senior level.

You bring credibility with clinicians, confidence working with executive stakeholders and a pragmatic approach to balancing quality, performance and financial accountability.

You are motivated by making a tangible difference and leading services that deliver outstanding outcomes for patients and staff.

Additionally, you have:

  • Significant senior clinical management experience with accountability for service outcomes within a hospital environment
  • Substantial clinical experience within a critical care environment
  • Experience leading service improvement, change and transformation initiatives
  • Strong commercial and financial capability, supported by sound decision making
  • Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Knowledge of clinical governance frameworks and NSQHS Standards
  • Postgraduate qualification in health management, leadership or a related field
  • AHPRA nursing registration 
  • Project management experience or training is desirable
