What you’ll be doing in this role 
An opportunity is available for a motivated and enthusiastic colorectal surgeon to join our team to undertake training in robotic colorectal surgery from 1 February 2027 – 6 February 2028. 

As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to perform a high volume of robotic cases as both assistant and primary operator, with mentoring from some of Australia’s most experienced robotic colorectal surgeons. As the Robotic Colorectal Surgical Fellow, you will participate in all clinical and academic activities of the unit.

 

Key Requirements for the role are:

  • Active participation in the unit’s Robotic Training courses and clinical research program.
  • Participation in the San MDT Meetings and Audit
  • May possibly involve participation in the San acute surgical roster as a specialist

 

Who we are looking for

This role would ideally suit a colorectal surgeon who has recently completed colorectal training who sees robotic surgery as a significant component of their future practice but has had limited robotic exposure. You will:

  • hold a Fellowship in General Surgery of the FRACS or equivalent, and ideally will have completed post-fellowship colorectal training
  • have demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • demonstrate excellent communication skills – both written and verbal skills
  • have proven exceptional interpersonal skills by considerately and professionally communicating with patients, their families, visitors, and your colleagues
  • be systematic, able to prioritise tasks but also have initiative and critical problem-solving capability
  • be adaptable, willing to learn, and work in a team-orientated, fast-paced environment
  • hold a current AHPRA registration
  • have the willingness to take relevant ongoing professional development
  • ideally have experience and demonstrated ability in supervising junior medical officers (desirable but not essential)
  • have unlimited Australian Working Rights (essential), as no visa sponsorship is offered for this role
