What you will be doing in this role

Bring your midwifery expertise to a place where every birth story matters. At Sydney Adventist Hospital, fondly known as the San, you’ll join NSW’s largest private hospital and play a meaningful role across our Birth Unit and Postnatal Maternity Unit. Working alongside a warm, highly supportive multidisciplinary team, you’ll have the environment, resources, and encouragement to deliver exceptional, family-centered care for mothers and their babies.

Our Maternity Unit offers an impressive and well-equipped setting, with 9 birthing suites, including two waterbirth rooms, antenatal assessment room, a 13-bed Special Care Nursery, and a 40-bed Postnatal Ward. Families are supported with welcoming spaces, including a lounge area where they can spend time together and attend postnatal education classes.

You will be welcomed by a hands-on, flexible Nursing Unit Manager who genuinely invests in your growth, supports your success, and values the experience you bring to every shift. This is a great chance to be part of a friendly, collaborative team where your contribution is seen, your development is encouraged, and your work impacts families at one of life’s most important moments. Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to work on a rotating roster across AM, PM, and night shifts.

Who we’re looking for

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife, with a minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience within a Birthing Unit, allowing you to confidently provide expert care
  • You will be known for your deep empathy and emotional intelligence, creating a compassionate environment where mothers and newborns feel truly supported
  • Communication is your strength, and you excel in both verbal and written forms, building trust and rapport with patients, their families, and your colleagues
  • Available to work AM, PM’s, and night shifts to meet operational requirements
  • Full Australian working rights (we do not offer sponsorship)

Why you’ll love this role

Every birth is a unique and unforgettable experience. At the San, you’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with mothers, babies, and their families as you support them throughout their hospital stay, typically over 3–4 days. You’ll have the privilege of being part of one of the most important moments in a family’s life, providing expert care, reassurance, and guidance during those precious early days of parenthood. As you get to know each family, you’ll celebrate their milestones, watch their confidence grow, and know that the support you provide will be remembered long after they leave our doors.

Working in our purpose-built Birth Unit and Postnatal Maternity Unit, you’ll deliver exceptional, family-centred care in an environment designed to support positive experiences for mothers and babies. Most importantly, you’ll make a lasting impact every day-knowing your compassion, expertise, and dedication will become part of a family’s treasured birth story.
