Monash University Malaysia has been funded to set up and deliver a Regional Hub for Asia on Climate Change and Health (REACH) Consortium. The REACH Consortium aims to support research that promotes climate literacy, community empowerment and response, and health system strengthening with particular attention to climate-vulnerable groups. Through a situational analysis, partners of the Regional Hub will identify and then mutually agree climate change & health research priority areas, and co-develop a regional road map to inform regional and global climate change mitigation and adaptation policies and strategies. To address policy and strategy gaps we will develop and run the regional call for climate change and health proposals that align with the thematic priority areas (multi-level interventions targeting climate-vulnerable populations, net-zero health systems, and climate literate health workforce). The REACH Consortium will also address the region's limited reliable information on climate change effects and develop a data repository and provide computational support to investigate climate change and health impact on vulnerable populations across countries. In addition, climate education and capacity building will also form the REACH Consortium's cornerstone. We will co-produce a climate and health module for continuous professional development for the medical and healthcare workforce in the region. We will also develop a comprehensive knowledge mobilisation plan and information communication. Policy Liaison and Social Media functions will ensure that dialogic and participative communication with stakeholders are embedded in the various workstreams. This position supports the grant principal investigator and the Hub Director along with the research team in the execution of all activities under the Regional Hub for Asia Climate Change and Health (REACH) to ensure milestones completion. |
