The Opportunity
This position supports and drives an integrated, cross-campus research programme uniting AI- guided multi-omics to predict and prevent severe dengue with a host-directed antiviral platform for pandemic preparedness. The appointee will manage and execute research workflows, mentor students, and ensure that clinical, computational, and translational milestones are achieved on schedule and to the highest international standards. The appointee will undergo comprehensive training in molecular virology and immunopathogenesis, including hands-on exposure to viral culture, infection assays, qRT-PCR, and sample processing from human blood and PBMCs under BSL-2 conditions. They will also receive advanced technical training through collaboration with Professor Diana Hansen’s laboratory at the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute (BDI), gaining expertise in high-dimensional immune profiling platforms such as CyTOF, CITE-seq, and multi-omics data integration. This structured mentorship will ensure the Fellow develops strong translational and analytical capabilities essential for infectious disease research, biomarker discovery, and host-directed antiviral development.
Reporting line: The position reports to Associate Professor and has a dotted line reporting Professor of Microbiology and Co-Head of the Infection Discovery Program
