The Opportunity
Monash University, Indonesia is calling for Expressions of Interest for an Assistant Professor (Research) to carry out independent and/or team research within the field in which they are appointed and to carry out activities to develop their research expertise relevant to the particular field of research.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to research projects in Indonesia and globally, in close collaboration with a team based in Helsinki, Finland. In this position you will work with academics leading the field of urban ecological modelling at Monash University Indonesia and University of Helsinki. You will be part of a team of academics, PhDs and research assistants working in this field. The project will employ advanced GIS analysis techniques and programming to characterize species movement in urban environments, focusing on the development of a new multi-species connectivity model for both Finland and Indonesia.
A key focus of this role will be the development of a new multi-species model for landscape connectivity, utilizing Graphab and Circuitscape software, as well as programming in Python or R, specifically applied to areas in Helsinki and Tangerang. You will also contribute to leading the preparation and publication of academic papers based on the outcomes of this work, and provide support for other projects that utilize GIS to address environmental issues.
To be successful in the role, you will need to have a PhD degree in a relevant field such as Geospatial analysis/Geography/Environmental Science/Ecology or equivalent with a substantial GIS component or with subsequent relevant experience, sound statistical analysis and manuscript and research proposal preparation skills, including a solid track record of refereed research publications.
