The Opportunity
Monash University, Indonesia is calling for an Expression of Interest for a Research Officer role to support the operations of the research projects in Indonesia and globally, in close collaboration with a team based in Helsinki, Finland.
The Research Officer performs a range of research support activities to assist in the delivery of a new multi-species model for landscape connectivity, utilizing Graphab and Circuitscape software, as well as programming in Python or R, specifically applied to areas in Helsinki and Tangerang. You will also contribute to the preparation and publication of academic papers based on the outcomes of this work, and provide support for other projects that utilize GIS to address environmental issues.
In addition to these technical responsibilities, the role will involve assisting with the creation of new research proposals, as well as providing support for research planning, including coordinating project timelines, budgets, and progress monitoring. Your contributions will help shape the future direction of critical research initiatives in the field of urban ecology at Monash University Indonesia.
To be successful in the role, you will need to have a Bachelor or Masters degree in a relevant field such a Geospatial analysis/Geography/Environmental Science/Ecology or equivalent with a substantial GIS component, alongside an extensive experience working with geospatial analysis of environmental, ecological and/or urban issues and proven ability in utilising GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS for mapping and visualising environmental and/or ecological datasets.
