The Opportunity
The Program and Research Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the dynamic operations of the Australia-Indonesia Centre (AIC), including its flagship Partnership for Australia-Indonesia Research (PAIR) program. This position ensures the smooth delivery of research and engagement activities by providing high-quality administrative and coordination support, while fostering strong relationships with partners and stakeholders across Australia and Indonesia.
This position will be responsible for supporting the delivery of research outcomes across AIC’s portfolio through a blend of research assistance and administrative coordination. It will contribute to data collection, analysis, report writing, editing, and translation processes, while assisting researchers to communicate findings effectively. The role will also support the development of new initiatives with strategic partners by conducting background research and coordinating inputs for concept notes and proposals. In addition, it will provide operational support for projects and events across Australia and Indonesia, including logistics, budget tracking, and monitoring and evaluation activities. Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, coordinating travel and meetings, and preparing high-quality documentation in line with research standards and protocols are also central to this role.
To be successful in this role you will have a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, along with demonstrated analytical and data analysis capabilities to support research and program activities. You will bring strong organisational and project administration skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Experience supporting partnership development and preparing proposals in a research, policy, or government context is essential. You will have excellent communication skills in both English and Indonesian, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Proficiency in a range of software tools and a commitment to confidentiality and accuracy will also be key to your success.
