The Opportunity

The PAIR Program Manager plays a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end delivery of the Australia-Indonesia Centre’s DFAT-funded Partnership for Australia-Indonesia Research (PAIR) Sulawesi program. Working closely with the Program Chief Investigator and a diverse network of stakeholders across Australia and Indonesia, this position ensures the successful achievement of program outcomes within agreed timeframes and budgets while driving collaboration, coordination, and strategic impact.

This position will be responsible for managing the program from inception to completion using established project management methodologies, including developing operational plans, budgets, and reporting frameworks. It will oversee implementation of deliverables, lead change management strategies, and coordinate resources, procurement processes, and contract management. The role provides high-level advice to senior leadership, prepares briefings and reports, and ensures strong financial oversight. It also leads and develops a high-performing team, manages consultants and contractors, and maintains strong stakeholder partnerships. In addition, the position will monitor risks, implement mitigation strategies, lead the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework, and ensure compliance with program and funding requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will bring postgraduate qualifications or equivalent extensive experience, together with a strong track record in managing large-scale projects through to completion. You will have excellent project management, planning and organisational skills; the ability to establish priorities, allocate resources and meet deadlines; and experience motivating and developing teams, consultants or contractors to achieve program objectives. You will also bring highly developed analytical, evaluation and problem-solving skills, advanced proficiency in project management systems, and strong communication, negotiation and relationship management capabilities. Experience in complex organisations, international partnerships, government-funded programs and/or DFAT-funded initiatives will be highly regarded.
