The Opportunity
Shape the policy, market, and technological pathways for regional industrial decarbonisation. Climateworks is seeking a Research Manager – Energy & Industry to direct the analytical delivery of a high-impact program focussed on Southeast Asia’s clean energy transition.
What you’ll do
- Program Leadership: Scoping and managing complex, multi-year research projects utilising techno-economic analysis, energy systems modelling, and scenario planning.
- Policy and Strategic Advice: Providing authoritative guidance to senior leadership, governments, and industry partners on shifting political, economic, and market dynamics in Southeast Asia.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Leveraging deep professional networks across government, development agencies, and corporate sectors to drive regional decarbonisation initiatives aligned with the Paris Agreement.
- Team Supervision: Directing 1–2 Senior Analysts and overseeing rigorous quality assurance across all project outputs.
- Business Development: Supporting funding acquisition, proposal development, and donor reporting to secure long-term program impact.
What you’ll bring
- Postgraduate degree in Energy Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, Climate Policy, or related disciplines.
- Extensive experience in quantitative/qualitative energy systems modelling, emissions tracking, and industrial decarbonisation context in Southeast Asia.
- Proven experience leading high-profile research programs and managing multi-disciplinary analytical teams.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of publishing policy briefs, reports, and presenting to executive audiences.
