    The Adult Empowerment Services are committed to improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities through person-centred services that empower individuals, support their families, and foster inclusive communities. Comprising the Day Activity Centre, Disability Case Management Programme (DCMP), and Young Adults Activities!, these programmes aim to help individuals reach their fullest potential, achieve greater independence, and lead meaningful, fulfilling lives.

    The Disability Case Management Programme (DCMP) provides holistic and timely case management and interventions to address the complex needs of persons with disabilities, ensuring comprehensive care and support. DCMP clients often have multifaceted support needs that require collaboration across multiple agencies and professionals.

    As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality occupational therapy services under the DCMP. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide person-centred interventions, empower clients and their families, and support them in achieving greater independence and improved quality of life. Given the complex nature of the clients’ needs, you must be highly skilled in advanced occupational therapy practices and adept at working across diverse systems of care.

     

    Critical Work Functions

    Provide Effective Clinical Services

    • Comprehensive Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the occupational therapy needs of individuals with complex disabilities, using appropriate tools and frameworks.
    • Goal Setting and Collaboration: Collaborate with clients, families, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team to set person-centred goals and priorities for intervention.
    • Care Plan Development: Design and implement evidence-based care plans to address the unique and complex needs of each client.

    Service Administration & Management

    • Client Records Management: Maintain and monitor client records related to service utilization in accordance with organizational policies and professional standards.
    • Inventory Management: Manage and maintain inventories of equipment, materials, and supplies to ensure availability and accountability.
    • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to the health and safety policy, including proper storage and maintenance of equipment to ensure safe use.

    Provide Supervision and Mentorship and Team Development

    • Clinical Supervision: Provide clinical supervision to junior therapists and  students during placements or internships.
    • Mentorship and Professional Growth: Mentor support staff and therapists to enhance their professional skills and growth.
    • Compliance and Standards: Perform peer audits to ensure adherence to clinical standards and guidelines and review clinical competency standards to maintain high-quality service delivery.

    Job Requirements

    • Good Degree or Masters in Occupational Therapy
    • Training in advanced assessment tools and intervention strategies (e.g., sensory integration, cognitive behavioral therapy, or assistive device training) 
    • Registered as Occupational Therapist under the Allied Health Professions Act
    • Clinical Expertise: Minimally 5 years as a practicing OT, with a focus on working with clients with complex physical, cognitive, or psychosocial needs. Proficiency in assessing and addressing multifaceted challenges, including physical disabilities, mental health conditions, and social barriers.
    • Specialized Experience: Experience with interdisciplinary teams, such as working alongside speech therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and social workers; Expertise in designing and implementing individualized care plans that consider holistic client needs; Familiarity with adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and assistive technologies to support independence.
    • Leadership and Mentorship:Experience supervising junior therapists, providing mentorship, and contributing to professional development initiatives; Ability to lead case discussions, provide clinical guidance, and support team decision-making.
    • Advocacy and System Navigation: Demonstrated ability to advocate for clients, ensuring access to services; Experience in navigating healthcare, social service, or educational systems to coordinate care.
