Facilities Manager

Apply now Job no: 493636
Work type: Full Time
Location: Gold Coast
Categories: Real Estate & Property

Why This Role Matters

As Facilities Manager on the Gold Coast within the Savills Asset Management team, this role is responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the building services and physical infrastructure of a high-profile retail asset in one of Australia’s best-known tourist-driven precincts.

Working closely with the Centre Manager and Operations Manager, this role will focus on the technical and facilities side of the asset, including plant and equipment, essential services, contractor performance, preventative maintenance, statutory compliance, tenant maintenance matters, defects, risk management and capital works support.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced facilities professional who enjoys being on site, understanding how a building works, dealing directly with contractors and tenants, and ensuring the asset is maintained to a high standard. The centre has significant foot traffic, extended trading patterns and a strong food, beverage, entertainment and retail mix, so the role requires someone who can respond quickly, communicate clearly and keep essential services running without unnecessary disruption to retailers or customers.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Owning the day-to-day facilities and maintenance operations across all building services, plant and infrastructure
  • Keeping critical systems running smoothly — electrical, mechanical, fire, hydraulic, lifts and BMS
  • Managing planned and reactive maintenance, defects, breakdowns and tenant work orders end to end
  • Ensuring full statutory compliance, WHS standards and essential services testing are always met
  • Leading service contractors — performance, compliance, quotes, scopes and site attendance
  • Partnering with Operations and Centre Management to protect presentation, safety and customer experience
  • Supporting OPEX and CAPEX planning, identifying risks, lifecycle upgrades and future works
  • Coordinating capital works delivery, minimising disruption for retailers and customers
  • Maintaining accurate compliance records, service reports and maintenance registers
  • Responding calmly and professionally to incidents and building issues
  • Working closely with retailers on maintenance, fit-outs and make-good requirements
  • Driving improvements in asset reliability, safety, energy efficiency and long-term performance
  • Collaborating across centre management, operations, leasing, finance and facilities teams

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in facilities, building services or maintenance management within a property environment
  • Background in retail, shopping centres or high foot‑traffic assets highly regarded
  • Solid technical knowledge across HVAC, fire, electrical, hydraulic, lifts and outsourced building systems
  • Confident contractor manager, able to challenge performance and drive issues to resolution
  • Strong understanding of statutory compliance, WHS and essential services obligations
  • Ability to juggle competing maintenance priorities while managing risk, safety and retailer impact
  • Clear, professional communicator with tenants, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Well‑organised and detail‑driven, with strong maintenance records, reporting and documentation skills
  • Calm, hands‑on and practical problem‑solver who performs well under pressure
  • Competent in Microsoft Office; experience with work order or contractor management systems is a plus
