About The Role
One of our Government clients has an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer to join the team. In this role, you'll focus on Cisco network infrastructure and contribute to ongoing initiatives that ensure the network environment is secure, reliable, and aligned with best practices and future-state architecture.
We're looking for someone with solid networking knowledge and experience with WAPs, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, BGP, EIGRP and SDA. You'll also have hands-on experience working with Cisco, Palo Alto and Azure technologies.
This is a full-time onsite role based in Canberra, working standard business hours. You'll also participate in an on-call roster, which includes occasional weekend work.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing Level 3 network support, including installing, configuring and troubleshooting network hardware and software.
- Collaborating with end-users to resolve networking issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Performing routine maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and system upgrades.
- Looking for ways to improve network performance and processes.
- Developing technical documentation, including policies, procedures and support guides.
- Collaborate and communicating closely with team members, end users, clients, vendors and stakeholders to deliver reliable network services and support continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring To The Table:
- Active AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance.
- Cisco certification (CCNA, CCNP or similar) and other networking certifications; ITIL certification is highly regarded.
- Hands-on experience configuring and managing Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VLANs and NAT.
- Experience with network security technologies, including firewalls and VPNs.
- Technical expertise across Cisco, Palo Alto and Microsoft Azure technologies.
- Experience developing technical documentation, including policies, procedures and support guides.
- A solid understanding of IT infrastructure and IT service management practices.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a willingness to share knowledge and support the team.
- Ability to work onsite, participate in an on-call roster, and occasionally work weekends as required.
