Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Radiation Therapy Manager the Hospital Aide provides support in the clinical activities of the Radiation Therapy Department. Will assist in the care and treatment of patients as identified in the unit's Scope of Care, following stages of the life cycle: infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Regularly assists all customers of the Radiation Therapy department in a professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
2. Knowledge of correct body mechanics as applied to lifting and transporting patients.
3. Handles and serves patients in a manner conducive to their comfort and safety.
4. Must be able to read, write legibly, and comprehend written and verbal communications.
5. BLS Heart Saver certification or acquire within probationary period and maintain certification.
6. Must be highly motivated and consistently demonstrate high standards of responsibility.
7. Must function independently with minimal supervision.
8. Previous experience transporting patients is preferred.
9. Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
10. May be required to work some weekends and holidays.
11. May be required to rotate shifts.

Physical requirements:
a. visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable.
b. ability to hear (with or without aides)
c. ability to orally communicate
d. good manual dexterity
e. ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally
f. ability to stand, walk frequently
g. ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently
h. Ability to perform CPR

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience transporting patients is preferred.
Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
