Job Description:

The project manager will lead the education and training initiatives related to plastics circularity and recycling of polymers. This position will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including faculty from the Chemical Engineering Department and the College of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities include overall project management; meeting with external organizations; laboratory design for undergraduate courses; piloting and assessing new laboratories; purchasing; communicating with industrial advisory board and organizing meetings; working with career services personnel; writing project reports; assisting the Principal Investigators (PI); and publishing in journals and conference proceedings, as well as across digital media.

The project is sponsored by the National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) through the Training for Improving Plastics Circularity (TIPC) Grant Program. The initial appointment will be for one year with a possibility of renewal for two additional years.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s (B.S.) degree in engineering, science, engineering education or related field with at least 5 years’ experience, or a Masters (M.S.) in engineering, science, engineering education, or related field with at least 3 years’ experience is required
Expertise in polymer science and engineering
Experience with experimental design and equipment design
Experience presenting to scientific, engineering or education audiences at conferences, including the AIChE meetings or ASEE annual meeting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships
Strong analytical skills
Excellent organizational ability to multi-task skills to produce accurate, detail-oriented work while meeting deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in engineering, science, engineering education or related field is preferred
Previous experience authoring publications in respected peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings is preferred
Survey design and teaching experience with laboratory courses are desired qualities that align with the project’s goals
