Job Description:
Under general supervision, and within established policies and procedures, collaborates with the Principal Investigator on multi-scholar research initiatives related to cancer drug discovery, mechanisms of cancer cell growth, metastasis and death and aspects of harmful freshwater cyanobacterial algal blooms. This position may require the candidate to have lead responsibility for discrete components of larger projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Requires PhD in cell and molecular biology, chemistry or related discipline; OR Master’s degree in a related discipline, plus 5 years or relevant post-master’s professional work experience; OR, a Bachelor’s degree plus 8-years of exceptional relevant professional experience preferably in a discipline related to medical/biologic science. Candidates with post-doctoral experience preferred.
2. Minimum 5 years of experience related to medical science research, preferably cancer or mitochondrial disease research.
3. Must be willing to learn and teach appropriate and ethical treatment of animals with respect to breeding, husbandry, genotyping, various cancer xenograft models, drug administration, and handling transgenic mice or rats.
4. Expertise in mitochondrial biology and relevant laboratory analyses to examine mitochondrial function and physiology is required.
