Job Description:
This position is a full-time professional staff position that manages all aspects of PK (Pre-Kindergarten)-12
school-based placements in education. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining professional
relationships with the College’s PK-12 school partners and managing all information related to field experience
placements for education students. This person will be knowledgeable about all aspects of PK-12 school-based
experiences in education. This position works with the associate dean, licensure manager, chairs, faculty, and
university field supervisors to ensure quality PK-12 school experiences.
Principal Duties:
1. Provide leadership to establish and maintain professional relationships with the College’s PK-12 school partners. This includes working with PK-12 school administrators, visiting school buildings, and providing information as needed for the partnerships to offer professional experiences for education students.
2. Manage information for PK-12 school personnel, mentor teachers, education students, and university field supervisors to facilitate quality field placements. This includes recruiting potential mentor teachers and supervisors, coordinating mentor-candidate-supervisor pairing, and providing information and directions regarding field experiences.
3. Collaborate with the Licensure Manager to ensure that education students have appropriate permits and registrations, mentor teachers have appropriate credentials and experience, and data regarding placements is recorded properly in the College’s assessment management system. Coordinates placement information with the Licensure Manager.
4. Plan and manage communication regarding all aspects of PK-12 school based experiences. This includes initial, follow-up, and continuing communications for all parties as well as professional events for education students in collaboration with department chair and staff.
5. Collaborate with university supervisors and faculty to develop, implement, and monitor action plans for students who are struggling with field experiences.
6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of State guidelines, program requirements, and recommended procedures for PK-12 school-based experiences in education. This includes knowledge and ability to use University and College resources, tools, and guidelines.
7. Collaborate with the associate dean, department chair, staff, and faculty. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
• A bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree is preferred. An academic background in education is
preferred.
• Three (3) years of professional experience in education, administrative experience in PK-12 schools or
related university work experience is preferred.
Communication and other skills:
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, including presentation skills.
• Excellent problem solving, organizational and analytical skills are required.
