Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Technical Manager, the radiation therapist applies ionizing radiation
to the patient in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist and under
the guidelines set forth by the clinical physicist.
Effectively responds to customer service needs.
1. Demonstrates effective age and culturally appropriate interaction with patients, families, and
other members of the health care team.
2. Adheres to UTMC’s Customer Service values.
3. Seeks out ways to assist patients and co-workers.
Actively participates in performance improvement activities as related to job duties.
Serves as an ambassador of UTMC in the community, demonstrating our organization’s values, services and
mission

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; satisfactorily completion of formal radiologic
technology training majoring in radiation therapy in an accredited school and meets the requirements
for registry by the ARRT.
• Must hold current license as required by State of Ohio Department of Health.
• Must provide documentation of continuing education required by the ARRT to ensure high
competence level.
• Required to be CPR certified.
• Demonstrates clinical competency in caring for patients as identified in unit’s Scope of Care.
Demonstrates competency in the care of the patient in the following stages of the life cycle: infants,
children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Actively participates in performance improvement activities as related to job duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; satisfactorily completion of formal radiologic
technology training majoring in radiation therapy in an accredited school and meets the requirements
for registry by the ARRT.
• Must hold current license as required by State of Ohio Department of Health.
• Must provide documentation of continuing education required by the ARRT to ensure high
competence level.
