Job Description:
Reporting to the Director, this position will assist in the daily operation and functioning of the office which resides in the Center for Advocacy and Student Experience (CASE) . This position will be responsible for assisting in the resolution of complaints of alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct, serving as an Administrative Hearing Officer, investigating student and student group/organization misconduct, and providing advocacy for students experiencing varying levels of crisis.
This position will also be responsible for developing and executing office outreach and programming, collaborating with other areas across campus, assisting with the training of University Hearing Officers and Hearing Boards, and working with the Director to develop and advance a Conflict Resolution Program. This position will also be responsible for preparing materials for hearings, generating reports/data using the conduct database, and serving on University and Divisional committees.
• Assist Director with the daily operation and functioning of the Student Conduct and Community Standards
• Investigate and adjudicate Student Code of Conduct policy violations for undergraduate/graduate/professional students and student groups/organizations.
• Manage response to incoming Student Conduct Reports.
• Engage in advocacy with students in crisis.
• Assist with training University hearing officers.
• Coordinate the recruitment, selection, training, and advising of hearing boards.
• Assist with federal and state compliance that includes, but not limited to, Clery Act, FERPA, and Title IX.
• Develop and implement educational sanctions for students responsible for violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
• Provide leadership to the Student Conduct and Community Standards in the absence of the Director
• Recruit, supervise, train, and develop graduate students
• Assist with the development and advancement of a Conflict Resolution/Restorative Justice Program for the office.
• Conduct reporting and tracking of all violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Rocket Care Reports through the Maxient database, and providing statistical reports and summaries as requested.
• Assist in the coordination of the Campus Crime Statistic Report (Clery) and other reports.
• Participate in programming and educational efforts within the Center for Advocacy and Student Experience.
• Serve on university and divisional committees as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience/Licensure:
• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field from an accredited institution preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree will be taken into consideration.
• 1 - 3 years of graduate or professional experience in student conduct in a college or university setting.
• Awareness of federal and state compliance expectations, including FERPA, Clery, and Title IX.
• Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working with student conduct systems.
• An understanding of the current issues in the field of student conduct and advocacy as well as trends in higher education.
• Experience investigating and managing student group and organizational conduct cases
• Experience working with individuals involved in sexual misconduct and intimate partner violence cases (complainants, respondents, and witnesses).
• Experience working with and supporting students in crisis.
• Experience working with conduct database software, particularly Maxient
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze complex situations, determine facts, exercise sound judgement, identify solutions, and apply policies, procedures, and laws.
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours as necessary.
