Job Description:

This position requires an individual to perform routine histological functions including specimen handling, accessioning, processing, embedding, cutting, H&E staining and labeling of slides, blocks and specimen containers, low and high complexity histochemical staining, immunohistochemical staining, kidney biopsy procedures, muscle biopsy procedures, nerve biopsy procedures, immunofluorescent staining and teaching and training of residents, medical students, histotechnologists, histotechnicians, and staff. This position may also require an individual to document daily routine maintenance, file slides/blocks accurately, change chemicals routinely, accession specimens, and perform low complexity special stains

Minimum Qualifications:

• A minimum of an Bachelor’s Degree with a combined thirty-six (36) credit hours in a Science-related field including six (6) hours of Biology and six (6) hours of Chemistry is required.
• HTL (ASCP) required. Eligibility for certification may be acceptable with the understanding that certification will be required within the probationary period (180 days).
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission, CAP, FDA regulatory standards and guidelines as applicable.
• Ability to effectively solve multiple problems and troubleshooting preferred.
• Shows high level of professional competence, discretion and judgement.
