Job Description:
This position supports the University’s insurance and risk management programs with insurance program administration, provider insurability review, claims reporting coordination, and risk data analysis. The position will work closely with internal departments, third-party administrators, brokers, and insurance partners to support the effective management of the University’s insurance portfolio, including professional liability, general liability, and other institutional coverages.
This role plays a key operational role in maintaining insurance documentation, coordinating claims reporting, supporting underwriting and provider onboarding processes, and preparing loss data used for actuarial analysis, renewals, and internal reporting. Working collaboratively across departments, the position will demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills while interacting with leadership, faculty, staff, external insurers, brokers, and third-party administrators. This position will demonstrate a commitment to accuracy, accountability, and service while supporting the University’s mission and commitment to the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and the broader University of Toledo community.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelors + 3 years of progressive experience is required, or 5 years of experience in lieu of education.
• 3 to 5 years of experience supporting insurance, risk management, claims processing and underwriting.
• Familiarity with reviewing or processing Certificates of Insurance and related insurance documentation.
• Strong attention to detail when reviewing technical or compliance related documentation.
• Experience using risk management, claims or insurance-related systems.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Excel to track, organize and maintain data in a high-volume environment.
• Demonstrated experience with data accuracy, managing documentation processes, including tracking deadlines, identifying gaps and following up with stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple ongoing projects at the same time.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaborately with internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Higher education experience is preferred.
