As a part-time jewelry professor, you will prepare talented students for creative professions through engaged teaching and learning in a positively oriented university environment. You will fulfill teaching assignments as determined by contact hours outlined in the Employment Agreement, including syllabus design, submission, and approval; office hours and midterm grade reviews; and availability for extra help sessions, learning opportunities, and field trips. You will maintain an active and engaged classroom environment, plan and prepare for teaching courses, and conduct course/program-level assessments. You will also fulfill grading and documentation requirements. Additional duties may be assigned.
In this position, as outlined in the SCAD Faculty Handbook, you will model professionalism, record attendance for each class, and follow academic policies and regulations. You will support academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts by contributing to the university’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. You will be available to attend on-ground and virtual activities such as admission events, faculty councils, exhibitions, and more upon request. Event participation may include curriculum assessment and development meetings, accreditation support, institutional effectiveness meetings, or publicity assignments. In this role, compliance with all SCAD policies and procedures is required.
The successful candidate will have knowledge in physical prototyping and 3D manufacturing processes. The candidate will have exceptional hand-drawing skills and be proficient in the use of various computer software programs for modeling, rendering, and developing models. They should demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to achieve results through influence and persuasion in working with students. A fluency in modern design tools and processes along with skills in facilitation, research, interaction design, and visual design are also required.
