As an assistant director of student involvement, you will foster strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to enhance the university experience. In collaboration with the director of student involvement, you will design, implement, and assess student activities and programs that enhance the student experience and reflect SCAD’s mission and values. You will assist the involvement events team with large-scale student involvement events and retention-focused programming that foster a sense of belonging and community. Responsibilities include accurate record-keeping and the creation of programs that adhere to the annual budget, and collaboration with the director of student involvement to enhance and promote the Student Center. You will also assist the director of student involvement with budget assessments, data collection, and reporting for student involvement programs. Additionally, you will partner with the director on major events, including welcome weeks, the masquerade ball, SCAD Talent Show, and more.
In this role, you will direct student trips and travel experiences across multiple locations to support cultural and community-building initiatives. You will handle registration, approval, and oversight of student clubs and organizations, supporting more than 100 clubs with budgeting, space reservations, and daily operations. Among other duties, you will manage all club budget allocations, ensure compliance and accountability in club spending, and elevate programs to align with the university's mission and values while supporting the creation and growth of new clubs. You will advise and train student club leaders and advisers to ensure compliance with policy, safety practices, and campus standards. You will also serve as a contact and supervisor for student organizations, activities, and facilities during evenings and weekends. Responsibilities include advising the Inter-Club Council (ICC) on program planning, directing policy implementation and program development, and providing leadership development, training, and guidance for ICC leaders and club advisers.
In this position, you will assess ICC programs and processes to ensure continuous improvement and measurable student engagement outcomes. You will organize and oversee student club fairs, expos, and recruitment events, and collaborate with the director on student leadership training and the development of initiatives, including contributions to the annual LEAD Conference, recruitment and interview days, leadership awards, and professional development for student leaders. You will also serve on student leadership committees and work with faculty and staff to advance student engagement opportunities. Responsibilities include the design and implementation of assessment-based programs and training that address student needs, support the ongoing development of the campus community, and supervise student employees.
As an assistant director, you will support student-involvement communications, including blog resources and social media account management. You will collaborate with senior student leaders to produce content that promotes events, highlights opportunities for involvement, and builds a dynamic and inclusive community. You will also coordinate content distribution and scheduling in alignment with the university events calendar while maintaining SCAD brand standards. Other duties may be assigned to support the mission of student success.
This position is designated as essential personnel in the university's on-call rotation, emergency, and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel must report.
Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• At least two years of experience in student activities within a college or university setting

• Master’s degree

• Less than 10%
