As a digital lab technician I with the physical resources administration team, you will enhance the student experience through elite customer service, including guidance on equipment techniques and best practices. In the lab, you’ll ensure students understand how to safely use industry-standard tools and will set up the specialized equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, large format printers, and laser scanners.

To support the physical resources administration team, you’ll:
• Maintain the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of lab equipment and spaces
• Help students from all academic departments achieve their goals by safely using lab resources
• Anticipate and enforce all lab policies, procedures, safety protocols, and workflows
• Mentor student employees and train them in the proper use and care of all lab equipment, as well as in policies and procedures
• Ensure billing is accurate and paperwork is promptly processed

As a digital lab technician, you’ll:
• Operate and maintain digital fabrication lab equipment to ensure efficient and functional operations, report all equipment concerns and repair needs, and perform light maintenance and thorough cleaning of the space and equipment
Conduct quarterly inventory, unload and restock consumables, prepare recyclable returns, and provide inventory data or reports to the lead technician
• Demonstrate the safe and correct operation of the equipment
• Proactively process jobs to identify and resolve issues and correct file setup

Additionally, you will:
• Always maintain professionalism
• Work in all labs as needed
• Provide backup support during periods of high demand
• Participate in university special projects and events

Strong candidates will demonstrate:
• Knowledge of the safe, efficient operation, repair, and maintenance of specialized equipment (e.g., 3D printers, laser cutters, and large format printers)
• A keen attention to detail and adaptability
• Ability to remain engaged with minimal supervision, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide guidance on equipment use and techniques
• Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• A commitment to promoting a safe work environment

Minimum qualifications:     
• High school diploma
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Word and Excel, Rhinoceros, or similar 3D modeling and graphics software
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed

Preferred qualifications:     
• Bachelor's degree or at least one year of related work experience
• Prior experience in an educational setting, particularly in a studio, workshop, or digital fabrication lab
• Experience with model-making techniques, materials, and equipment safety protocols
• Familiarity with large-format paper printing

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
