As a shop technician, you will maintain the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of the shop equipment and facilities, proactively identifying problems and developing solutions to improve shop efficiency. Reporting to the shop manager with up-to-date inventories and safety or equipment concerns, you will demonstrate safe machine operation to students, assist faculty with class demonstrations, oversee the thorough and timely completion of daily assignments, and assist in enforcing proper use of WebCheckout for shop tools and equipment. You will also attend all college-sponsored safety training sessions and provide backup operations support during times of high demand. |
CNC General Machinist

As the CNC generalist machinist, you will be responsible for adjusting machines to control speed, material feed, and path of the cut, as well as ensuring the machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality output. Responsibilities will include assisting students with the fabrication of course-related projects by utilizing CNC technology in the shop; providing support with departmental and university infrastructure; and creating parts for special projects, renovations, and construction. In this position you will be expected to clearly communicate with students on necessary procedures and information for CNC use, edit student CAD files as needed, program and execute three and five-axis CNC projects with Mastercam, and work collaboratively with the operations coordinator and shop staff to assist students with their projects. |
Architect, Director of Construction Operations

As the director you will be responsible for ensuring quality deliverables, on-time and within budget, and assisting the project team in value engineering and the pursuit of green initiatives. In this position you will execute all phases of the design process and prepare physical needs assessments, estimates, and bids. Responsibilities include engaging designers and coordinating details to ensure contractors have adequate details to deliver the work activities, reviewing bid proposals and recommending vendors, and reviewing contract documents and exhibits to communicate the intended scope of work. The person in this position will be expected to establish and manage job budgets and schedules, review invoices, monitor lien waivers and payments, and facilitate positive relationships with regulatory agencies. Additional responsibilities include participating in weekly construction update meetings, ensuring quality deliverables on-time and within budget, coordinating with university personnel, performing post-occupancy evaluations, and reinforcing a safe working environment as adhering to OSHA and other work requirements. |
Safety Officer, Atlanta

As the safety officer, you will patrol assigned areas to ensure personal, building, and equipment security by examining doors, windows, and gates with university keys to open and close them. In this role you will monitor closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities; provide escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty; and provide public assistance, such as lockout services, jump-starts, transportation with a university vehicle, and routine information. Responsibilities include watching for and reporting irregularities such as security breaches and hazards, contacting emergency responders, confronting and/or detaining violators until police arrive, and performing periodic checks of emergency call boxes and/or streetlights to ensure proper functioning. Other expectations include directing traffic, responding to radio calls, and completing visual safety inspections. In this position you will be expected to prepare routine, standardized reports, control access to facilities and events, and serve as the Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. |
University Safety Field Operations Manager

As the operations manager, you will collaborate, engage with, and oversee six to 10 trained safety officers operating in different assignments related to foot patrols, vehicular patrols, static posts assignments, and bicycle patrols within the SCAD Savannah geography. In this role you will identify and utilize best practices to implement innovative methods of all-encompassing safety and security services for the highest level of service to SCAD and will refine the standards related to the establishment of the internal university safety patrol program to promote job knowledge and enhance SCAD’s visions and commitments.
Responsibilities in this position include driving the active engagement of all internal and external stakeholders, conferring with management level university personnel and law enforcement officials on operational and policy matters, and leveraging personal job knowledge related to planning and oversight of special events at the Savannah location. You will be expected to continually improve efforts related to the development, maintenance, and implementation of evolving crime prevention programs and to engage with all levels of law enforcement in the exchange and conveyance of information during criminal investigations and for real-time assessments to determine appropriate staffing and resource deployment.
Minimum Qualifications:
• At least four years of security, military, or law enforcement experience and at least two years of management experience
• Extensive experience in development and establishment of patrol and staffing programs focusing on training, building extensive job knowledge and skills, customer service, and safety best practices to provide exemplary service deliverables to the university community and guests
• Possess a strong demonstrated job-based knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
University specific experience with the relevant compliance requirements of the Clery Act, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and Title IX
Certification in the process of conducting threat assessments
Certification in the process of conducting special event assessments
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
A valid driver's license is required
Must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. passport within the first six months of employment
Travel required:
10% to 20%
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
