Position Summary: Washburn University's The Intersection is currently seeking students to staff and assist with special projects at the Intersection for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Student Ambassador position is intended to build culturally relevant peer-to-peer empowerment through equitable and justice-minded student support services. The program curriculum provides student ambassadors with skills to develop and complete projects for the space. Mandatory training and seminars will include the theoretical foundations in social justice and anti-racism as well as practical skills for program coordination, facilitation, personal and academic success.
Essential Functions:
Duties and responsibilities may vary depending on the needs of the Intersection and student communities. Regardless, ALL Student Ambassadors will commit to the following:
-Student Ambassadors will coordinate projects, dialogues and events to foster an on campus political and intellectual community. Solidarity and collaboration is a core value of the Intersection.
-Student Ambassadors will create digital and physical flyers to promote The Intersection's events via Canva.
-Assist in developing and implementing strategies for outreach and engagement with diverse populations.
-Assist in creating a welcoming environment, while maintaining a secure and clean, sanitary space; help peers with academic systems (ex. D2L, Zoom) and make referrals to appropriate campus and/or resources. Notify supervisors in emergency or distressful situations.
-Display an active commitment to asking for help and vocalizing any issues that may be affecting your work, the work of others, or the well-being of anyone.
-Inform community about services, programs, and events provided by The Intersection and the Office of Student Development. (Tabling, developing flyers, presentations, etc.)
-Attend MANDATORY bi-weekly group meetings. To be coordinated with group.
Required Qualifications:
-Currently enrolled Washburn University Student in good standing
-Enrolled in at least 12 Credit hours
-Maintain at least 2.5 GPA
-Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
-Must be available the week before classes start to complete a one-day orientation.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
-Knowledge of Instagram, Twitter, Facebook
-Customer Service experience
-Ability to work at least 10 hours per week
-Familiarity with Financial Aid, D2L, and other University websites
