Position Summary: The Aleshire Center for Leadership and Community Engagement LE400 Intern is a student leader who has completed all requirements for the Leadership Studies minor or certificate and is enrolled in their final course, LE400. Candidates will interview with the participating organizations to secure an internship at a specified location, report to the participating organization supervisor and abide by their organization rules and guidelines. A student intern serves as a professional ambassador of the Leadership Institute and Washburn University while showing initiative and the ability to complete work with autonomy.
Essential Functions:
Complete 150 hours with the internship organization as scheduled by the student and organization.
Meet all other requirements of the internship in a satisfactory manner as determined by the internship organization and the LE400 instructor.
Plan and execute a "change project" within the context of the internship experience.
Engage in the practice of leadership as the change project is implemented through ownership of the project.
Through the project, address a challenge or weakness of the internship organization and create positive change that sustains well after the intern's LE400 internship.
The intern is responsible for arranging appointments to discuss the internship with the faculty of the Leadership Institute.
Non-Essential Functions:
Flexibility if other tasks are required by the internship organization.
Ability to work independently of the internship supervisor as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Meets all course requirements to enroll in LE400.
Effective communication skills.
Professionalism.
Semester enrolled in LE400.
Preferred Qualifications:
