Position Summary:
Provides support to the lab manager for the Department of Chemistry’s lab classes, acts as the secondary back-up for lab safety and assists with other high level tasks/projects within the Chemistry lab.

Essential Functions:
Assists the Lab Supervisor in the preparation of materials and supplies for chemistry lab classes with minimal supervision.
Responsible secondary back up for lab safety.
Provides general lab assistance to students during lab when needed.
Acts as a monitor for labs and provides safety policy monitoring.
Demonstrates good laboratory practices and skills necessary to function safely in a laboratory; demonstrates a safety mindset.
Once trained, properly prepares solutions, and neutralizes waste using established SOPs.
Exhibits dependability and reliability.
Completes general cleaning and housekeeping tasks as well as glassware washing.
Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Completed both General Chemistry I and II plus lab courses with a grade of B or better. Experience working safely in a lab around hazardous chemicals.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 or better in natural science courses.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to lift 50 lbs
