General Summary
Direct, oversee, and manage all aspects of the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) clinic, including staff supervision, budget, and service delivery.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct, plan, and oversee the daily management of the CAPS clinic, including work flow, mental health counseling and budget activities, long and short-term planning, cost projections, and student service delivery.
- Build and sustain a professional service team committed to and competent in supporting students with a diverse range of backgrounds and identities.
- This includes recruiting, supervising, training, and developing staff.
- Provide direction and performance appraisal of professional staff clinicians, and office support staff, and contract employees.
- Keep abreast of legal, ethical, and clinical issues relating to mental health to maintain quality services.
- Provide consultation with CAPS therapists on clinical concerns.
- Provide clinical supervision to unlicensed and/or limited licensed mental health clinicians, when required.
- Provide routine and crisis mental health services, as needed.
- Maintains assessment and evaluation data related to utilization, effectiveness, and trends. Completes assessment and annual clinic reports, as required.
- Provide professional direction to and coordinate with the University community on mental health needs and programs.
- Participate in university policy and program development regarding mental health issues.
- Serve as the primary mental health consultant for campus crises and threat assessment.
- Provide consultation to faculty, staff, students and family members regarding students of concern.
- Provide mental health educational workshops or and programs related to mental health to University students, staff, and faculty.
- Work collaboratively with other campus programs and departments to achieve the University’s strategic goals.
- Function as an active member of the Student Affairs leadership team and serve on university committees, as designated.
- Serve on the Student Intervention Team and respond to Care Reports, as assigned.
- Perform related departmental and administrative duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program and completion of an APA-accredited internship are required.
Licensure to provide independent mental health treatment as a Psychologist in Michigan (or within 6-months after hire) is required.
Seven years of post-doctoral experience as an independent Psychologist provider offering psychotherapy to a diverse population with a wide range of mental health concerns is required.
Expertise in providing brief psychotherapy and trauma-informed care is required.
Five years of experience providing clinical supervision is required.
Leadership, supervisory, and administrative experience relevant to administering a counseling center (typically acquired by serving as a director, assistant director, or associate director) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ten years of post-doctoral experience as an independent Psychologist provider offering psychotherapy to a diverse population with a wide range of mental health concerns experience is preferred.
Experience working in a college or university counseling service is preferred.
Knowledge of HIPAA as well as other federal and state regulations pertaining to mental health is preferred.
