General Summary

Responsible for planning and administering the assessment, instructional and operational activities, programs, and services of the Math Pathways Support Program. May include teaching courses in the Quantitative Reasoning Math Pathway and the Algebra Math Pathway.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement programs designed to assess and place students in appropriate courses in the Quantitative Reasoning Math Pathway and the Algebra Math Pathway.
  • Plan course curriculum and select instructional materials for use in pre-college level mathematics courses, including reviewing online support tools for student support.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational activities of the Math Pathways Support Program, including the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of instructional and operations support staff.
  • Develop instruments for evaluating Math Pathways Support programs and services, and work with the department head and faculty of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics to ensure the Math Pathways Support Program is meeting Departmental and University needs and expectations.
  • Provide leadership, in collaboration with the department head, in the development of new initiatives and programs in math pathways support and for the revision of existing ones.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends in math pathways support by engaging with student support communities and through participation in professional organizations and conferences.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Depth and breadth of discipline-specific content knowledge, which is typically acquired by a Masters Degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field is required.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in math pathways support program development and administration typically acquired through at least four years progressively more responsible experience in college-level math pathways support programs is necessary.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.

Experience using technology in instruction, communication, and student support is essential. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Supervisory experience is desirable.

Experience in grant writing and implementation is desirable.

History of active participation in programs for student success and persistence is required and history of participation in relevant professional organizations and conferences is desirable.
