Job Summary/Basic Functions
The EKU Department of American Sign Language and Interpreter Education seeks a 9-month, full-time ASL Specialist (non-tenure track) faculty member. Primary responsibilities for the position include serving on the interpreter outreach team and teaching undergraduate level American Sign Language (ASL), Deaf studies, and/or interpretation courses. Faculty members will teach primarily using face-to-face. Online synchronous or asynchronous formats may also be used from time to time.
In addition to effective contributions to the outreach team and strong teaching abilities, this position requires service at department, college, university and professional levels. Other duties will depend upon the needs of the ASLIE department.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: BA/BS with 18-hours toward an advanced degree in the field or related field and measurable satisfactory annual academic progress (9 or more credits per year) toward completion of Master’s within 5 years of hire.
Experience: - Native or near-native fluency in American Sign Language - College/university and/or P-12 experience - Because of the tight scope and sequence of our curriculum, the candidate must be team-oriented - Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the program, the profession, and the Deaf community - Possess teacher dispositions that include a commitment to student success, ethical character, critical and creative thinking, detail-oriented, effective and quick problem-solver, flexible, and superior communication skills. Faculty are expected to be accountable, self-directed, and life-long learners - Willing and able to periodically travel across Kentucky to facilitate workshops
Licensure & Certifications: RID (CSC, CDI, CI, CT, NAD IV, NAD V, NIC, CASLI), BEI Advanced, and/or ASLTA certification
