Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Sports Medicine Trainer for Men's Basketball is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes in the men's basketball program. This position works closely with team physicians, coaching staff, strength and conditioning coaches, and other sports medicine personnel to ensure the health, safety, and optimal performance of all team members throughout the year-round training and competition calendar.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: A Master's Degree is required.
Experience: Three years or more of experience in collegiate athletic training.
Licensure & Certifications: BOC National Certification required. A State Board of Medical Licensure Certification in Athletic Training is required. A Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure Athletic Training Certification Is Preferred. The successful applicant will obtain a Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure within 3 months if not held at hire. Valid state driver's license is required.

Job Duties:
- 40% - Provide comprehensive athletic training services, including injury prevention, evaluation, immediate care, treatment, and rehabilitation for men's basketball student-athletes. - (Essential)
- 30% - Attend and provide on-site medical coverage for all practices, home games, and away competitions, including travel with the team as required. Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols in coordination with team physicians. - (Essential)
- 20% - Perform pre-participation physical exams and maintain compliance with NCAA medical clearance and eligibility requirements. Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, injury reports, and treatment documentation in compliance with HIPAA/FERPA regulations. Coordinate referrals to physicians, orthopedic specialists, and other healthcare providers as needed. - (Essential)
- 10% - Ensure full compliance with NCAA bylaws related to sports medicine, including medical hardship waivers, drug testing protocols, and student-athlete health and safety standards. Stay current on best practices, continuing education requirements, and certification renewals. Assist with budgeting and procurement of medical supplies and equipment for the basketball program. - (Essential)
