Assistant Professor of Zoo and Conservation Science - 998587 Iowa
The Environmental Science and Sustainability Department at Drake University seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Zoo & Conservation Science. Candidates with backgrounds in animal behavior, behavioral husbandry and training, endangered species conservation, vertebrate zoology, primatology, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will have experience doing research and / or coordinating student intern projects in an AZA-accredited zoo environment, as well as possess a PhD or be ABD in a related field. The search committee is particularly interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Candidates will teach a 3/3 course load, including courses in animal behavior, ethological methods, endangered species conservation, and zoology courses in their field of expertise. Successful candidates will have experience conducting collaborative research and supervising student internships with a variety of captive species, particularly endangered species. Candidates who can engage undergraduate students in meaningful roles in ongoing research are especially welcome.

Drake University Head Start is seeking a dedicated candidate to serve as a Teacher Associate in the Des Moines area. The ideal candidate will be passionate about encouraging children ages 0-5 to develop a positive self-concept through supportive and cheerful interaction. The role consists of light cooking, personal care (toileting, hand washing, teeth brushing), participating in the development of activities for children based on their interests and individual needs, and completing some required paperwork. Assistant Director, Residence Life, Upper Class Experience - 998654 Iowa

The philosophy of Drake University is that student life in the residence halls is not separate from the academic mission of the University, but rather it is supportive of students’ total development. The Assistant Director (AD), Upper Class Experience will work actively and collaboratively toward the realization of this philosophy serving as a role model, advisor, administrator, supervisor, and supporter. The AD is a twelve month, live-in, master’s degree-level preferred or willingness to start a program of study (master’s degree in College Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or related field preferred) professional who reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life. The AD facilitates the total student life experience in three residence halls (one upper-class, one mixed class hall on campus, and an off-campus residence hall) with approximately 900 residents. These responsibilities include programming, enforcement of community standards, supervision of undergraduate and full-time staff, and management of desk operations. The AD also plays a role in the campus-wide elements of the First Year Experience, including Welcome Weekend, Family Weekend, and Admission’s events.
