Job Summary:

The Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (CPHS) seeks a Director of Experiential External Affairs for the College’s Experiential Education Office. The Experiential Education Office is directly responsible for the development, implementation, and achievement of curricular and accreditation requirements related to experiential education for all CPHS programs. The Director will work closely with the Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs to perform the responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities include the management, review, and execution of affiliation agreements with experiential education sites; communication with external stakeholders to obtain and enhance experiential education opportunities for students; planning, writing, and distribution of formal communications from the Experiential Education Office to include newsletters, manuals, annual reports, and videos; and supervision of Experiential Education Office staff. The Director will create and maintain relationships with adjunct educators and affiliated site personnel, including provision of developmental opportunities for these educators. All activities must be conducted in compliance with applicable accreditation standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Proficiency with multiple electronic platforms (ie., Microsoft Office, learning management software)

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in applicable field
Proficiency in relevant communications software

Job Duties:

  • 30% - Execute, maintain, and document experiential education site affiliation agreements in compliance with applicable accreditation standards and University policies and procedures for all CPHS experiential education programs. When necessary, negotiate contract terms with non-faculty sites. Refer to or coordinate with University administration as needed. Notify applicable department chairs regarding status of faculty site contracts. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Work with faculty coordinators to establish new experiential sites and educators. Coordinate with pharmacy sites requiring applications and communicate information to students. Coordinate preceptor showcases. Develop annual experiential calendars and availability collection processes. Coordinate shared placement processes with experiential staff from surrounding institutions. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Supervise Experiential Learning Specialists including training; scheduling; goal setting; and monitoring and evaluating performance. Create, prioritize, assign, and monitor team activities to ensure successful completion of necessary tasks. Ensure that Experiential Education Office staff maintain all required data in the experiential education learning management system. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Establish and maintain site and educator relationships. Establish and implement processes to onboard and renew experiential education sites and experiential educators in compliance with applicable accreditation standards. Manage library access for experiential educators. Oversee and process the adjunct pharmacy faculty appointment, review, and promotion process. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Coordinate and plan (in collaboration with external and internal stakeholders) opportunities for experiential educator orientation, training, and development in compliance with accreditation standards. Implement formal external communication strategies including the experiential education annual report, experiential educator online newsletters, experiential education manuals, and information in the experiential education learning management system. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Collaborate with the Global Engagement Office to arrange student pre-departure training and documentation, risk management assessment, and scholarship applications for all CPHS experiential programs. Coordinate international placements with international sites and preceptors, including site-specific pre-departure onboarding. Perform other duties as assigned. - (Essential)

The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt (salaried) position.
