Department Summary:
Are you ready to inspire change and make a significant impact? The Drake Law School is seeking a dynamic and strategic thinking Operations Manager to join the Drake Legal Clinic. The Drake Legal Clinic is a teaching law firm of the Drake University Law School that allows students to gain hands-on lawyering skills under the supervision of Drake Law faculty. The Legal Clinic provides representation to individuals, businesses, and non-profits across six practice areas.

Job Summary:
The Clinic Operations Manager (OM) oversees and monitors Clinic activities including budgets, accounts, client services, personnel, and procurement. The OM is the first to be consulted with administrative matters of the Program, deferring to the Director of Clinics and Experiential Education as appropriate. Responding to the needs of faculty and 50+ students per semester is a regular staple of the job.

Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in related field; · Three years + experience in professional administrative and/or program/practice management required.

Preferred Qualifications:
· Background in public interest law or experiential education practice preferred

Job Duties:
- 25% - Facilities and IT management: (Essential)
• Assume primary responsibility for the physical operations of the Neal and Bee Smith Law center • Assume primary responsibility for the technology (hardware and software) of the Drake Legal Clinic / Neal and Bee Smith Law Center and serves as a liaison to Drake Information Technology Services • Coordinate with Drake Public Safety to ensure safety needs of students, faculty, staff, and clients are met
- 20% - Event Management: (Essential)
• Coordinate all internal and external requests for use of the clinic space • Oversee and manage events, including parking, IT support, interface with Drake catering, rental contracting and fees • Work closely with Trial Practicum Director to coordinate all aspects of the program
- 20% - Development and Implementation of Policies and Procedures: (Essential)
• Assist in the daily operation of the Legal Clinic by working with Clinic Director to development and implement firm procedures and policies • Participate in ongoing research and implementation of best practices in law office management and innovation in clinical legal education and experiential learning
- 20% - Assist Director of Clinics and Experiential Education in Supervision of Administrative Staff: (Essential)
• Manage assignments and workflow, coordinates timesheets, leave requests, onboarding, and exit interviews of clinic staff for review by Clinic Director • Coordinate regular faculty and staff meetings
- 10% - Finance and Budgeting: (Essential)
• Process invoices and expenditures of the Legal Clinic in cooperation with the Law School Budget Manager • Manage the Legal Clinic’s Trust Account in line with the rules and policies of Client Security Commission of the Office of Professional Regulation •Assist Clinic Director with budget forecasting and annual contract renewals
- 5% - Marketing & Communications: (Essential)
• Maintain the Legal Clinic website • Liaise with Drake marketing for communication with both internal (current students) and external audiences (prospective students, community)

The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt (salaried) position.
