Job Summary:

The Drake University Teaching and Learning Department invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor. The instructor will be responsible for teaching one of one sections of a one-credit undergraduate/graduate course titled EDUC 190/290: Administration of Gifted Programs (the sections of these courses are cross-listed for both undergraduate and graduate students).

This asynchronous, online course is designed to help students create a comprehensive program for gifted education in a Pk-12 school setting. Students will study gifted education policy and practice, state legislation related to gifted education, funding/budgeting practices, staff development, and program evaluation. The instructor will be responsible for the facilitation and assessment of all related course work.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or higher in Education

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of PK-12 teaching experience in gifted education.

• Experience in teaching adult learners in a virtual/online format.

Job Duties:

• 65% - Serve as instructor of record for the course, using an existing course syllabus as the foundation for instruction - (Essential)
• 20% - Use the Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System to facilitate student learning experiences - (Essential)
• 10% - Document individual student achievement of course goals/objectives - (Essential)
• 5% - Maintain timely communication with students, with Drake Teaching and Learning faculty and/or the Talented and Gifted endorsement program lead - (Essential)
