Department Summary:

Drake University's Athletics Department competes in the Pioneer Football at the NCAA Division I FCS level. Bulldog student-athletes thrive in the classroom and their respective field of play. Job Summary:

Drake University is seeking a Head Men’s Basketball to join its athletics department. The successful candidate will support a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes while creating a culture of excellence and ethics. Prior college coaching experience is required.

Skills Needed:
· Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

· Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.

· Ability to build rapport and students, faculty and staff.

· Skills to help student-athletes improve through training / coaching.

· Proficiency to produce scouting reports, recruiting evaluations and complete work within deadlines.

· Ability to develop and sustain relationships with prospective student athletes, parents, and coaches.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree required.

· Knowledge and basic proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel

· Knowledge of applicable NCAA Rules and regulations.

· Experience playing at the collegiate level preferred.

· Master’s degree preferred.

· Coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level preferred.

Job Duties:

All of the job duties described below require an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the Pioneer Football League, and Drake University.

  • 20% - Design and implement effective training programs, practices, and game plans that maximize player development and team performance. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Support a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes within the football program creating a culture of excellence and ethics. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Recruit and retain student-athletes able to thrive at Drake and on the field of play - (Essential)
  • 20% - Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and other staff as assigned. Direct and coordinate the activities of the assistant football coaches in the planning, organizing, and coaching of the football team. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Actively engage with alumni and the community to enhance program support and visibility. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Manage the football program’s operational budget, including travel and equipment. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Demonstrate appropriate communication as it relates to internal (coaching staff, student-athletes, athletic staff) and external (fans, parents, alumni, prospects, campus community, etc.) - (Essential)
  • Performs other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
