ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance team based in our Wangara office. This role plays a key part in supporting the day-to-day payroll functions across the business.

As the Payroll Officer, you will report to Payroll Supervisor and be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements. You will play a vital role in supporting employees with payroll-related queries, maintaining payroll records, and contributing to continuous improvement in payroll processes.

Other key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Accurately calculate and process payroll including salary, overtime, shift payments, bonuses, tax withholdings, and other deductions.
  • Maintain and update payroll records to reflect changes such as new hires, terminations, wage adjustments, and leave entitlements.
  • Ensure timely processing of end-of-month statutory obligations including superannuation, payroll tax, and child support payments.
  • Interpret and apply relevant employee enterprise agreements and employment legislation.
  • Verify payroll data and prepare corresponding general ledger entries.
  • Respond to payroll-related queries in a timely and professional manner, providing effective issue resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with HR to ensure employee records are accurate and up to date.
  • Provide backup support to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed.

To be successful, you will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Certificate in Payroll Management or similar qualification.
  • Strong understanding of interpreting EBAs, awards, and relevant employment legislation.
  • Proficiency in payroll software such as MYOB and advanced Excel skills.
  • MUST hold valid Australian working rights.
