The opportunity…
We are seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to support the management of legal risk and provide pragmatic legal advice for our Thailand business, while contributing to the broader Asia legal framework. Acting as the primary in-country legal contact for Thailand, this role will partner closely with internal stakeholders to support business operations, growth initiatives, legal process improvements, and risk mitigation strategies, while also assisting with legal integration activities for newly acquired businesses across the region where required.
Legal
- Lead commercial negotiations with key external stakeholders, including hospital administrators, sub-distributors and government or regulatory representatives
- Provide clear, commercially pragmatic legal advice directly to business stakeholders in Thailand enabling informed decision-making while managing legal and regulatory risk
- Provide practical, business focused legal advice to business stakeholders regarding DT legal exposure in Thailand, including customer contracts, service contracts, operating and property leases, licenses, and tenders
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts in accordance with DT-approved templates and risk positions, escalating key risks and deviations as required;
- Manage legal matters in Thailand with limited day-to-day supervision, while aligning with regional legal policies and standards in Asia, and where relevant, ANZ;
- Manage commercial disputes and claims in Thailand, including instruction and oversight of external counsel, cost control, and timely escalation of material risks
- Manage and maintain contract templates, including periodic updates and revisions;
- Work closely with the Singapore-based Legal and Compliance Manager to align Thailand activities with regional legal strategy and priorities
- Advise DT Asia Regulatory affairs team on legal issues relating to marketing regulations, product liability and customer complaints;
- Work with DT People & Culture team to provide legal advice and support regarding employment agreements, disputes and/or internal policies;
- Own the end-to-end contract lifecycle for Thailand (from initial review through execution and post-signing issues), including maintaining contract discipline and visibility over material obligations and risks; and
- Take initiative and demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of key laws and regulations in Thailand relevant to DT’s operations, and provide timely updates to business stakeholders on the impact these have on the business
Acquisitions
- Support acquisition activities in Thailand, including coordination with external counsel, due diligence, and post-completion integration requirements; and
- Oversee legal requirements of acquisitions including completion requirement/s, post-completion registration/s and, where required, legal assistance with integration into the wider DT business.
Corporate Governance
- Support the management of corporate governance and company secretarial requirements for DT Thailand entities, including coordination with external providers; and
- Provide support for external company secretarial provider/s to manage corporate secretarial requirements for DT Asia companies with a particular focus on the DT Thai entities.

Our ideal candidate for this role aligns with these values and brings strong experience in corporate and commercial legal matters, is comfortable managing day-to-day legal risks independently, and can provide practical, business-focused advice that supports operational growth and compliance objectives. Experience working within multinational environments, including supporting business transformation or integration activities, will be highly regarded.
Experience required:
- Bachelor of law (or equivalent)
- 5 – 7 years legal experience, with a mix of law firm and in-house experience preferred;
- Strong proficiency in English, including the ability to draft, review and negotiate contracts in English without supervision;
- Effectively bilingual and able to review contracts in Thai, and translate these to English to provide legal advice, and vice-versa
- Experience in contract review, negotiation, administration and management of a variety of contracts;
- Demonstrated ability to manage legal matters independently and prioritise workload effectively;
- Experience negotiating with key commercial stakeholders (e.g. customers, distributors, or government entities);
- Strong understanding of contract law and legal terminology in the Asia region;
- Knowledge of corporate governance and company secretarial responsibilities;
- Highly skilled in interpreting legal documentation;
- Effective analytical, organisational and time management capabilities;
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills;
Desirable
- Qualified lawyer in Thailand or another recognised jurisdiction (preferred)
- Regional experience in Asia.
- Experience in a regulated industry (e.g. medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare)
- Exposure to regulatory frameworks relevant to the healthcare or medical device sector in Thailand
