About the role

The Sterilising Endoscopy Cleaning Technician program involves hands-on training by a senior Endoscopy Nurse Educator. The role will require responsibility and knowledge of all scopes used within the unit, the service and maintenance of the equipment and sterilisation processes. This is in conjunction with all HICMR and infection prevention standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sterilising Technicians must ensure they are able to effectively clean and process a flexible endoscope.
  • Preventing transmission of health care associated infections and minimising infection and prevention and control risks.
  • Successful completion of HICMR assessment through Observational and Verbal Assessment of appropriate practice by correctly processing all scopes within the unit.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of micro testing schedule for scopes and sterilisation systems.
  • Solid knowledge base of scan care tracking sterilisation system.
