About Calvary Health Care Bethlehem – Caulfield, Victoria

Calvary Health Care Bethlehem (CHCB) is a 32 bed public hospital / health care facility providing a range of inpatient, community and ambulatory services for palliative care and progressive neurological conditions.  CHCB is also an NDIS service provider. We are located centrally in metropolitan Melbourne at our new state of the art hospital and health care precinct in Caulfield.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is a mandatory requirement for healthcare workers in Victoria, and as such, all employees at Calvary Health Care must provide evidence of Vaccination.

All employees must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment when required, which at a minimum is a surgical mask.  Additional PPE requirements are role-dependant.

 

Our service streams include:

  • Inpatient service: 32 bed ward with a mix of progressive neurology and palliative care beds
  • Hospital based Outpatients - Statewide Progressive Neurological Disease Service: Specialist interdisciplinary assessment and management service for people with a diagnosed progressive neurological disease such as Motor Neurone Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinsonian Syndromes
  • NDIS provider Service: providing a range of allied health therapies and Specialist Behaviour Support, delivered across metropolitan Melbourne to adult participants under 65 years old with progressive neurological conditions

 

About the role

 You will work in our NDIS Provider Service which involves providing home-based Speech Pathology support to people with progressive neurological diseases, including Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and Huntington’s disease.  

You will work closely with the NDIS Provider Service Allied Health Staff, Bethlehem clinical staff and other external key stakeholders to provide a collaborative service to the participant and their family.

The role includes comprehensive Speech Pathology support in line with the participant’s stated NDIS goals, to optimise quality of life and function at home. This will include working with the wider team to manage dysphagia, secretions and communication. Prescription of AAC (high and low tech) including writing funding applications is key to this role.

 

What you bring 

  • Membership with Speech Pathology Australia
  • NDIS Worker Check required
  • Current driving licence
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in progressive neurological disease management (including MND and Huntington’s Disease)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge and expertise in NDIS funding processes and report writing
  • Dysphagia management experience is essential
  • Experience with AAC and multi-modal communication is desirable.
  • Current clinical knowledge and critical thinking ability in the field of progressive neurology and/ or palliative care is desirable
