Excellent opportunity for an experienced Periopertive Nurse with strong communication, problem solving and leadership skills to join our team in Newcastle, NSW.

THE ROLE:

The Nuse Manager Perioperative Services will lead and manage the clinical team in conjunction with the Director of Anaesthetics and the Nursing Unit Manager of the Operating Theatre in providing excellent patient care within Calvary Mater Newcastle (CMN) Perioperative Service in order to maximise the health outcomes for the community.

This position coordinates, leads and directs Perioperative Services and the delivery of nursing care within the operating suite, anaesthetic, recovery and day surgery unit. You will maintain staffing profiles appropriate to service needs and manage staffing resources to achieve optimal provision of service outcomes. You will manage the resources of the operating suite to achieve both budget and service delivery targets whilst maximizing service delivery outcomes for patients. In this collaborative role you will coordinate waitlist management within the team of Waitlist Coordinator and Operations Manager Surgical services to achieve KPI’s.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Registered Nurse authorised to practise by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) with post graduate qualifications in Peri-operative Nursing.
  • Possession of tertiary management qualifications (or equivalent) or currently enrolled in a management program.
  • Extensive experience in managing an operating theatre environment and demonstrated ability to effectively exercise leadership in a multidisciplinary team. 
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, computer literacy, experience in quality improvement and in budget preparation and financial management
  • Experience and involvement with the National Safety and Quality Health Standards.
