Excellent opportunity for an experienced Accountant with strong communication, problem solving and leadership skills to join a leading health care provider in Newcastle, NSW.

  • Remuneration: $137,173 - $163,431 per annum + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options + RDO's 

THE ROLE:

As Financial Controller you will be responsible for managing the finance team and to support the provision of quality health care services in accordance with the hospitals overall operational plan. In this senior leadership role, you will provide management of the finance, accounting and audit function and provide support to the Director of Finance and Corporate Services.

DUTIES:

  • Ensuring the financial reports present accurately, in all material respects, the financial condition and result of Calvary Mater Newcastle.
  • Ensuring the financial reports are based on a sound system of risk management and internal control; and the risk management and internal control system is operating efficiently and effectively in all material respects.
  • Preparation and management of all aspects of the accounting and audit function and the meeting of key internal and external reporting KPI.
  • Ensuring compliance and submission of all taxation requirements for the company.
  • Analysing internal financial information and budgets to provide advice and assistance on new policy proposals and benchmark organisational program performance against best practice.
  • Responsible for the annual budget in collaboration with the Management Accountant and preparation of monthly forecasts for review by the Director of Finance and Corporate Services.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to manage a high performing team.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing and mobilising others, to implement financial governance and operating frameworks to continually improve the quality of financial advice.
  • Demonstrated strong experience in financial and budget management and accounting principles and practices.
  • Highly developed organisational and project management skills including ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex financial issues.

While not essential, applicants with financial experience within the Health industry will be highly regarded.
