  • Fixed Term Part Time (24 hours per week)
  • Salary Classification: Health Service Manager Level 2
  • Remuneration: $55.40-$65.37 per hour + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options + RDO's 

THE ROLE:

The Senior Research Fellow will have opportunity to translate their research experience and skills to embed high quality research practice in a clinical unit. The fellow will provide expert support to clinician researchers in current and planned research projects, collaborate with palliative care leadership to further research capability and frameworks and collaborative partnerships.

DUTIES:

  • Contribute to a culture of collaborative research within a clinical setting, provide mentorship and leadership to current and emerging clinician researchers. Foster early career researchers in the department to enable collaborative research and quality improvement activities across the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide expert knowledge and guidance in context of current and planned research activity, research design, grant applications and implementation of research and QI activity.
  • Develop a multidisciplinary departmental collaborative network to facilitate education and development of research capabilities in team members.
  • Collaboratively manage aspects of departmental research including:
    • Mentor departmental staff identifying clinically relevant research projects and QI activities
    • Monitor and identify suitable external research funding opportunities
    • Coordinate grant application processes
    • Develop research project plans, including qualitative research projects, co-design projects and consumer engagement
    • Coordinate and enable staff skill development in ethics processes for research projects

ABOUT YOU:

  • Working towards, or attained a PhD or attained Research Master’s degree in a field relevant to Palliative Care. Consideration will also be given to applicants with other postgraduate qualifications who have advanced skills in relevant research areas.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the coordination of research projects and patient centred translational research in palliative care or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research projects and track record in funding, grant and/or tender submissions.
  • Experience in interpretive statistical analysis, high level computer skills and database management. Demonstrated ability and success in working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Track record of presentation of research findings at major conferences and publication in peer reviewed journals
