THE ROLE:
The Administration Officer is responsible for efficient clerical support in all areas of the Patient Services Department. The position is rostered on a 7 day per week 24-hour roster in Emergency Reception, Information Desk, Urgent Admissions, Elective Bookings and Switchboard roles.
DUTIES:
- Reception of patients, visitors and staff.
- Perform Switchboard duties, follow all guidelines and internal procedures.
- Answer phone calls in a timely manner, with courtesy and consideration for the caller.
- ED Registrations, Admissions, Discharges and Transfers according to hospital requirements.
- Retrieval of medical records, filing in accordance with local procedures and associated medial record tracking.

ABOUT YOU:
- Demonstrated experience in administration and reception duties, including computer skills in a people health care environment.
- Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Excellent communication, customer service and people skills and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations and information with the discretion required in a hospital setting.
- Willing and able to work shift work with flexibility to adapt to short-notice work requirements when required and across the 24 x 7 roster.
- Ability to undertake required work flows efficiently, to set priorities if needed, and to use initiative in applying work practices in a busy work environment and as a part of a larger team.
- Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development.
