About the role
The Dietitian Assistant will work under the supervision of a dietitian to perform clinical and non-clinical duties. The Dietitian Assistant is responsible for supporting the nutrition care team in the provision of a safe, effective, and efficient nutrition care service to inpatients. The assistant will work closely with Dietitians and Food Services to meet the needs of patients on therapeutic diets.
Your main duties will include:
- Assist the clinical dietitian with implementation and monitoring of prescribed nutrition care plans.
- Apply clinical nutrition / therapeutic diet protocols as delegated by the supervising dietitian
- Facilitates access to food and fluids for patients on therapeutic diets
About you
- Have completed Certificate III in Nutrition & Dietary Practices or equivalent qualification OR has a Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics) OR has a nutrition undergraduate qualification
- Previous experience as a dietitian assistant or hospital health care worker
- Ability to work a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
- Demonstrates knowledge to assist in the provision of nutrition support, and be committed to learning and safe delivery of nutrition care
- Demonstrates excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills
- Ability to work effectively with others involved in nutrition care
