Senior Physiotherapist – Outpatient Rehabilitation

About the role 

Calvary Adelaide Hospital is the largest private hospital in South Australia and we are seeking an experienced Senior Physiotherapist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary Allied Health team. 

As a member of the Allied Health team, the Senior Outpatient Physiotherapist will lead a team of Allied Health Professionals including students and Allied Health Assistants within the Rehabilitation service. The Senior Physiotherapist will be involved in developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of outpatient, day program and hydrotherapy services. The Senior Physiotherapist provides clinical supervision to AHP1 and AHP2 staff, allied health assistants and students as required. 

The Senior Physiotherapist is a highly skilled professional who is responsible for the delivery of a high-level Physiotherapy service to patients in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards. The Senior Physiotherapist will encompass key attributes to deliver effective and innovative operational management within the outpatient department. 

 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide comprehensive assessment and management for patients with a variety of conditions, demonstrating a high level of clinical knowledge and professional practice using evidence-based practice, expertise and skills in physiotherapy and hydrotherapy rehabilitation 
  • Oversight and leadership on Cardiac, Pulmonary, Neuro and Oncology Specialty Outpatient Programs 
  • Lead marketing campaigns and networking 
  • Lead professional development including inservices and education programs 
  • Contribute positively to staff culture and wellbeing 
  • Collaborate with Senior Allied Health Professionals within all disciplines and departments 
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures, attend meetings and contribute to committees as appropriate 
  • Perform non-clinical responsibilities including quality improvement projects, clinical research, service review and development initiatives 
  • Provide line and clinical supervision of other health professionals or technical, operational or support staff 

What you bring: 

  • Tertiary degree in Physiotherapy, and full registration with AHPRA 
  • Extensive leadership experience within a clinical setting 
  • High level of critical thinking skills 
  • Previous experience supervising an Allied Health team 
  • Extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of patients presenting with a variety of different conditions  
  • A commitment to delivering evidence-based practice, and ongoing personal and professional development 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Advanced ability to organise, set priorities and manage time effectively 
  • Ability to engage and work collaboratively with relevant internal teams and external agencies 
  • Flexibility to work across multiple areas with the rehabilitation ward including inpatients, outpatients and hydrotherapy 
  • Willingness to undertake pool rescue training and hydrotherapy services 
  • A desire to join a large multi-disciplinary team committed to the care of others in a mission-based organisation
