Join our dedicated maternity and neonatal team at Calvary Health Care Tasmania.
 
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and passionate neonatal nurse to take on the role of Special Care Nursery facilitator within our well-established maternity service.
 
This permanent 0.4-0.5 FTE day work position will be undertaken as a job share arrangement with our existing SCN Facilitator. Hours and FTE can be negotiated within the 0.4-0.5 FTE range for the successful applicant.
 
About the Role
 
The Special Care Nursery Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of our 9-bed Level 2 Special Care Nursery, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, family-centred care to newborns requiring specialised neonatal support.
 
Working collaboratively with the Maternity NUM, SCN Facilitator, Paediatricians, Midwives, Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical leadership, coordinate service delivery, support workforce development and contribute to the ongoing excellence of neonatal care at Calvary.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the daily operations and patient flow within the 9-bed Level 2 Special Care Nursery.
  • Provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to nursing and midwifery staff.
  • Support staffing coordination, resource management and bed utilisation.
  • Promote evidence-based neonatal care and best practice standards.
  • Facilitate staff education, mentoring and professional development.
  • Participate in quality improvement, risk management and accreditation activities.
  • Foster a culture of family-centred care and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Contribute to service planning, policy development and ongoing improvements in neonatal care.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife.
  • Significant experience in neonatal nursing and/or Special Care Nursery practice.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coordination experience.
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
  • Experience supporting staff development, education and clinical mentoring.
  • A passion for providing exceptional care to newborns and their families.
