About the Role

The Data Governance Manager provides data governance expertise to business units and is responsible for overseeing and managing Baptcare’s data governance program. This role is the conduit between Baptcare management and employees or vendors in the application and adherence to the data governance framework and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, provide leadership, and guide project teams to ensure data governance is applied to all projects.
  • Develop and maintain business domain knowledge, data skills and awareness of data management and data governance practices, procedures, and trends.
  • Offer expert knowledge and guidance on data governance best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Co-ordinate the data governance program
  • Contribute to the creation of and implementation of Data Governance Framework and the delivery of roadmap initiatives.
  • Ensure policies and plans are communicated and educate all business areas on data governance.
  • Specify and co-ordinate data strategy metrics collection, auditing, and reporting processes, including to the Executive and Board where required.
  • Identify and utilise opportunities for continuous data governance improvement.
  • Provide data governance guidance on the management of risks associated with the use of data, including balancing security and privacy against the benefits of collecting and sharing data.
  • Perform routine assessments or audits to identify improvement opportunities and action the.

 

About You:

  • Proven leadership experience in a data governance senior management role with a strong track record of successfully delivering complex projects and initiatives.
  • Knowledge and experience of data governance frameworks (DAMA/DCAM), principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with cloud-based data governance tools (e.g., Informatica, Alation, Collibra)
  • A strong understanding of data management principles, including data quality, metadata management, and data lineage
  • The ability to create and deliver training and awareness programs on data governance and data management best practices
  • Strong communication skills with a proven history of influencing organisational data practices and policies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with senior management, technical and non- technical employees, and vendors
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and vendor

 

It is essential to have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  •  5+ years’ experience of successfully delivering complex Data Governance programs in a regulated environment.
  • Certification in one or more data Governance methodologies (e.g., DAMA)

 

It is desirable that you have:

 

  • Relevant certifications in data governance
  • Project Management Qualifications and / or experience
  • Experience in Aged Care, Community Services or Not-for-Profit/NGO organisations.
